Happy National Coffee Day! To celebrate I give you my {non-professional} review of three coffees. Each is Fair Trade Certified and/or is a brand that does good for the community and the world. Each were brewed with equal equations of coffee/grounds and using the same coffee maker. My husband Bill also helped out to have a second opinion.
I decided to look into what the Fair Trade Certified logo meant and found a lot of good information and a great resource of brands from food/coffee to clothing. Worth a look!
What is fair trade?
Fair trade is a global movement made up of a diverse network of producers, companies, shoppers, advocates, and organizations putting people and planet first.
We at Fair Trade USA® believe that everyone wants to do what’s right – for their families, fellow global citizens, and the planet. That’s why we’re committed to making the right choices the most obvious ones. Based on the simple idea that the products we buy and sell are connected to the livelihoods of others, fair trade is a way to make a conscious choice for a better world. A choice for Fair Trade Certified™ goods is a choice to support responsible companies, empower farmers, workers, and fishermen, and protect the environment. In other words, it’s a world-changing way of doing business.
So we have the more technical stuff out of the way. I find it interesting and may have to do a whole post about just research on fair trade in the future but...lets get to the fun stuff.
